The De Lisle Commando Carbine.. or the ..The De Lisle .22 Prototype Carbine

This comprehensive short section was written on the De Lisle Carbine, and entitled "The FIRST silenced Sterling", by Peter Laidler (one time curatorial captain of the Small Arms School Collection at Warminster). This extract was published in the fine reference book "The Guns of Dagenham" - sadly now out of print.*

In his years with the Small Arms School Corps, Peter Laidler was in the perfect position to use, test and assess those De Lisle arms held in the Warminster Collection, although late 20th. Century comparisons may not provide a full appreciation of the conditions and circumstances that held sway when the carbine was first in action.
