Recently they arranged a " Utility" Championship at the St. Martin's A.R.C. range. Competitors fired seven shots at each of the three ranges—30 feet standing fin. bull, 36 feet kneeling or sitting lin. bull, and 40 feet any position lin. bull. Mr. A. Rouilliard of the home club was range officer and Mr. J. Amicel was adjudicator. There were 61 entrants for the championship. The result was a win for F. McCormack (North United) with 101 points out of a possible 105 after a tie with T. Creber, a clubmate. The winner, who scored three bulls in the tie shoot at 40 feet, was presented with the Capper Challenge Cup by the president, Mr. Roy E. CTarre, himself placed third with the only score of 100. He is also president of the Kingsland Club. The first three were also recipients of S.M.R.C. medals. There were several scores of 99 and 97, and in view of the fact that many of the men had not fired a shot since the outbreak of war the results were creditable, particularly under unusual and trying conditions which the test imposed. The long-service secretary, as energetic as ever, voiced thanks to St. Martin's A.R. Club for the loan of their range and to Mr. A. Rouillard for so ably performing the duties of range officer. Lt.-Colonel R. W. Randall, a patron of the Association and a great friend of riflemen, was an interested spectator of the shoot. The championship is likely to revert to its old form of competition in three stages next year, with 315 points as the highest possible aggregate. The Association's trophies, like those for the national events, were safely stored from prying eyes during the German occupation and will be used for the two-division league in which teams of six will compete. Lawrence and Mr. W. M. McCloud spoke on the toast of the guests. Mr. J. Landon presided. Reference was made to the happy co-operation between the two clubs which share the same range and enter separate teams in the local league, but a, combined team of their best for national events. Before the dinner all paid a silent tribute to the late Mr. H. CouU, one of the oldest and best shots, who died recently. * * Mr. F. Milne, who gained 51st place in the King's Final. ■ Captain Milne, besides being an expert service marksman, is deeply interested in the sm^l bore code and has rendered invaluable service on the S.M.R.C. Executive Committee and Council. Bisley Meeting, 1947 Next year's Imperial Bisley Meeting will be held from Monday, 30th June, to Saturday, 12th July. It is probable that all the shooting will be in this fortnight and that no attempt will be rnade to allot to any of the main team competitions days outside it. Ashburton Day will be Thursday, 3rd July, and the shield and all other public schools' trophies and medals competed for during the meeting will be awarded to the winners on the e\ening of Ashburton Day at a special ceremony to be held behind the 500 yards firing point on the Century Range. This is to save time for the schools and does not include the Veterans' and associated trophies. The third (concluding) stare of the King's Prize will be on the afternoon of the final Saturday. 'The National R.A. also states that Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Philip Richardson has resigned the chairmanship of the Council, which he has held since 1939, and will be succeeded by Maj'or Munro, the Scottish and Imperial team coach, who has been vice-chairman. The new vice-chairman will be Major Sir Gerald Burrard. The Mother Country Kolapore team will be led by Captain D. S S-vanston, who was in charge of the fine team of young men that visited South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand (1937-38) and won the Empire Trophy from Australia. The National Small-bore Meeting will be organised by the S.M.R.C. at Bisley, and the date will be Wednesday, 25th June, to Saturday, 5th July inclusive. The .22 competitions for C and D classes will commence and finish in ihe first four days.
